"It was the best experience I could have hoped for."

Emily was highly recommended to me by my OB. Some friends recommended that I hire a doula when I told them I wanted to have a drug-free birth. I was also excited to find out that she is a Christian. Once we met I knew it would be a good match. We took our birthing classes with Emily as well at the Pregnancy Resource Center. These classes helped my Husband and I come to the realization that we would rather have our son at a birth center. Emily helped us find the right birth center and I am so happy she did. It was the best experience I could have hoped for.

The night I went into labor started off with a massage with Emily. I had an emotional day that day with labor starting and stopping. She helped me relax right into labor. I don't think that I could have gone thru a natural birth without Emily. She kept me calm and more importantly helped me to remember to breathe, which I tended to forgot to do. She was very encouraging and even got her feet wet when I was laboring in the tub. I think that was going above and beyond her "job desciption." She massaged me and helped me relax in between contractions, especially when I was in transition in the car! Once my son was born she helped me figure out nursing and didn't leave until I was doing it successfully. I would love to have Emily at my future births! -Carrie Sperlin
