Emily was the doula for the birth of our first child and I look back and wonder what I would have done without her! She brought a calming and knowledgable presence to the birth and helped us achieve our desire of having a natural birth. She came to our home when labor started allowing me to labor comfortably at home and not nervously head into the hospital before I needed to. Emily reminded me of all the little things that made my labor easier - from simply handing me a water bottle to reminding me to relax between contractions to giving new techniques to manage labor pain - everything I read and thought I knew, but left my head the minute labor started!!

Moreover, she coached my husband on ways to help ease my back labor and he was able to be extremely active in the birthing process thanks to her words of encouragement and direction. It's hard to discribe how Emily managed to be a near and active presence during the birth yet was never an intrusive or dominant force. I never could have imagined how many ways having a doula enhanced my birthing experience. I highly recommend Emily for any first time mom and anyone who desires to have natural birth! -Jennifer Ross
