Are you hoping for a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC)? Did you know VBAC support among our local hospitals varies widely? Some hospitals actively encourage all good candidates for VBAC to attempt a trial of labor. Some hospitals have VBAC bans. The Washington State Health Care Authority has taken a particular interest in VBAC rates and has set a preliminary goal that all hospitals should have a VBAC rate of at least 20% for women who are at least 37 weeks pregnant, have a single baby in a head down position and only one previous cesarean. In other words, low risk women should be actively encouraged to consider VBAC. The state is keeping track of the VBAC rate for this population at each hospital. We’ve gathered that data for you in to a simple infographic.
